Ann Crane Harlan

Ann Crane Harlan has had a passion for the arts since she was young and says creating art is “her spirit’s song”. She lives with her husband in Centreville, where she paints out of her own studio. She began her education in Fine Arts at Ohio University and continued her instruction at the University of Maryland where she earned a B.A. in Art Education. She also received training at Montgomery College where she focused on watercolor, design, and figure drawing. In addition, Ann studied with local artist John Pringle at the the Kent Island Federation of Art.

Her art education degree gave her the opportunity to teach students of all ages. She found teaching to be a very rewarding profession, as it allowed her to share her love of artistic expression with others. Today, she creates art for her house portrait business and for her own enjoyment. Some of her recent awards include 1st place in collage for the 2011 Chesapeake College Fall Show and Honorable Mention in 2012 Fall Show for the Kent Island Federation of the Arts. Her work is exhibited throughout the Eastern Shore and Annapolis.
