Home for the Holidays in Western Sussex County, Delaware

When you visit the small towns of Bridgeville, Greenwood, Laurel and Seaford in Western Sussex County, Delaware, you are bound to find the Christmas spirit this time of year. The small shops and businesses open their doors to celebrate the joys of the seasons with everyone; from holiday parades and community events to a special pre-Christmas appearance from the jolly man himself, Santa Claus.

The festivities in Seaford kick off as early as the Saturday after Thanksgiving and go on throughout the holiday season, starting with the annual Train Exhibit opening at the Seaford Museum, located at 203 High Street, in Downtown Seaford on November 24th and running through January 13th. On Monday, November 26th there will be Caroling in Gateway Park in Seaford at 7:00 pm. That same weekend is the Seaford Christmas Parade on December 1st. This year’s Christmas parade theme is “Holly, Jolly Christmas”, and begins at 7:00 p.m. on High Street/ Pennsylvania Avenue in Downtown Seaford.

The Seaford Historical Society will also host their Victorian Christmas at the Governor Ross Mansion starting on December 7th throughout the weekend. There will be Caroling in the Stable and candlelight tours of the mansion on Friday evening, kids’ activities, Visit with Santa and a Secret Santa Shoppe on Saturday, along with more mansion tours on Saturday and Sunday. Head up the road for a short trip to Bridgeville for their annual Christmas in Bridgeville Craft Show on Saturday, December 2nd at the Woodbridge Middle School, located at 307 Laws Street. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. And then the following weekend, come on back for the Town of Bridgeville’s 3rd annual Christmas Parade on December 8th at 6 PM. Rain date will be December 9th at 4:00 PM.

The Town of Laurel 2018 Christmas Parade is scheduled for Friday, December 7th, beginning at 7:00 p.m. with lineup at 6:00 p.m. Lineup will be on Evergreen Drive. This year’s Theme is “A Christmas Village”. Be sure to stop by the Christmas Village Market on Broad Creek at Venables Park -(on the parade route) where pop up shops and Spirits of Christmas pop up pub are open from 6 pm to 9:30 pm.
