Need Ideas for New Year’s Eve? Celebrate on the Shore!

After the presents are opened and the last of the cookies consumed, it’s time to plan for the long New Year’s weekend that lies ahead. Consider it a great opportunity to unwind after the last few weeks of parties and merriment while looking forward ringing in 2019. If you are thinking about getting away but your budget is busted from holiday spending with not quite enough left over for expensive airfare, don’t despair. Just a short drive gets you “away” to our small towns that have some seriously fun events planned for New Year’s Eve — just a little less crowded or costly.

Ocean City

Enjoy a weekend at the beach. Ocean City restaurants are open and ready to welcome revelers with live entertainment, top-notch cuisine and even fireworks at Northside Park at midnight during the Winterfest of Lights. Shop, dine and enjoy since many of Ocean City’s businesses take a winter hiatus after the holiday. Sales in surf shops and boutiques can score you some finds that put you in the summer spirit.

Nearby Berlin’s New Year’s Eve ball drop has been growing in popularity. Bring the kids for ball drop from 5-6pm with cookies, hot chocolate, dancing and the Berlin Bubble Stomp. At 10pm, the grownups get the party started with a Burley Oak (Berlin’s local brewery) beer truck, wind and food vendors along with dancing in the streets and a light show. Of course, there’s a ball drop at midnight.
