There’s little argument for the fact that summer is when our towns come alive. With salt air breezes off the Atlantic and the Chesapeake to blow off our stresses and plenty to see, hear, do and eat — this is the time to take it all in. Luckily, there are plenty of events to help you get to know these towns even better. Here’s a list to help you fill your calendar with experiences from the bay to the the beach.
The National Music Festival

The mission of the National Music Festival is to present world-class celebrations of music and to provide affordable arts education and entertainment year round; as well as to foster economic development by contributing to the greater Kent County community as an arts and entertainment destination on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

First Friday at the Ocean City Center for the Arts

The June Friday Friday showcases clay, photography and pencil plus the Lower Shore Addiction Awareness Art Competition. The public is invited to the opening reception with complimentary hors d’oeuvres.
Downtown Salisbury Festival
The Downtown Salisbury Festival is back for another year along E. Main & E. Market Street in Downtown Salisbury! Check out the carnival, live music on the main stage plus local vendors, activities and more – presented by Toyota and Pohanka of Salisbury Automotive!
Kennard’s Annual “Juneteenth” Celebration
June 8, 11am – 3pm, Centreville, MD
Kennard African American Cultural Heritage Center
Free community festival where African American artist will perform and, vendors will offer their wares, lecturers will educate, and guest will sample African American food and drink. 11am to 3pm.
Afternoon on the Lawn
June 9th, 6pm – 8pm, Berlin, MD
Enjoy traditional Bluegrass and classic country music with excellent picking and tight vocal harmonies. Bring a chair and a friend and help kick off the summer! Concert begins at 6pm featuring John O’Dell! Event is held at the Taylor House Museum.
Summer Solstice Art Show

Second Saturday at the Artsway
June 8, 2 – 4pm, The Denton Artsway, Fourth Street, Denton
Second Saturday at the Artsway features live artist demonstrations and art activities. This month’s activity will feature potato stamping with Foundry artist Janice Knauss. This event is free, but registration is required to save your seat! Register online.
2nd Friday Berlin Art Stroll and Markers Market

29th Annual Lewes Garden Tour

Tour nine private gardens and enjoy a Garden Market in Zwaanendael Park. Three members of the Cape Artists – Curtis Smith, Daphne Blaker and Jean Bowers – will be painting in the gardens and artists Fred Dylla and Steve Rogers will be painting in their own gardens that are included on the tour. Eastern Shore Juneteenth Festival

For the second year, Friends of Charles H. Chipman Cultural Center brings to the community another Juneteenth celebration back to the Lower Eastern Shore in hopes to fuse history, music, food, dance, and a host of other activities that speak to the culture. It is the mission of Eastern Shore Juneteenth to strengthen and promote a community that values the triumphs, contributions, and culture of African-Americans on Maryland’s lower Eastern Shore through education, entertainment, and cuisine.

Father’s Day Behind the Vines Tour

Kids Plein Air
June 22 – 23, Downtown Berlin, MD
During this FREE two-day event, children of all ages will learn from experiences local artists and explore the art of Plein Air, painting in an open air. Young artists will receive an art bundle complete with all needed supplies and canvas to create their work of art in one of the three downtown locations. Get more information.
Crisfield’s 4th Saturday

Join us for an authentic Eastern Shore event, the Crisfield 4th Saturday Bay Stroll Church Social! Enjoy live music, festival food, and explore the history and culture of our local churches. Show your support of the historic district by joining us at 319 W Main Street. Bluegrass in the Blueberry Patch
