We invite you to visit Dover, DE, the capital city of The First State. A Main Street community, Dover is thriving with galleries, art walks, eateries, quaint boutiques and more. Dover’s historic “The Green” was named as one of four Delaware sites that were accepted as the newest National Monuments in America in 2013, making it one of the first National Parks in Delaware!
Located in Central Delaware, in the center of Kent County, The Capital City of Dover is approximately 90 miles south of Philadelphia, PA, and 90 miles east of Washington, DC. The city was founded in 1683 by William Penn. In 1717, it was officially laid out over an area of 125 acres by a commission of the Delaware General Assembly making 2017 our 300th anniversary!
While in Delaware’s Capital Region visit a number of free museums featuring everything from airplanes to Victrolas, art galleries, art loop, classes, and theater. There are festivals and events all year long, including the county’s signature event — the Dover Days Festival — which will be celebrating its 85th anniversary the first weekend in May of 2018.
